The city of North Miami Beach welcomes “A Hollywood Director: Bobby Roth’s One Day South Florida Master Class” on November 15, 2015 from 10 am to 6 pm, at the amazing Julius Littman Performing Arts Theater and Conference Center, centrally located at 17011 NE 19th Ave, North Miami Beach.
Bobby Roth’s world renowned seminar will teach aspiring filmmakers and people in the industry the secrets to his successful career in Hollywood for the last 35+ years and uniquely offers a look into the nuts and bolts of the film world from the singular perspective of Roth’s decades of personal experience with collaborators from every corner of the industry.
Having taught at USC, Art Center College of Design, and AFI as well as lecturing throughout the world, Roth is uniquely qualified to undertake such an ambitious project.
Roth’s television directing credits include Miami Vice, Hawaii Five-O, Scorpion, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Revenge, The Mentalist, Lost, Prison Break, and Grey’s Anatomy, amongst others; has directed more than eighty episodes of television, thirteen feature films, and twenty-five television movies.
He was a founding member of the Independent Feature Project and the first Co-Chairman of the DGA’s Independent Feature Committee. His films have been exhibited at over 100 international film festivals, including Sundance, where he has also served as a jury member, and Berlin, where his film “Heartbreakers” was nominated for a Golden Bear. He holds a BA in Cinema from USC and an MFA in Motion Picture Production from UCLA, and he has been teaching film seminars worldwide for more than ten years.
While it will be the first time Bobby Roth’s Masterclass will be held in Florida, it will not be the first time he has been in the Sunshine State. Bobby Roth recalled, “I am excited to bring my Masterclass to South Florida where I launched my feature film career at the 1978 Miami International Film Festival where ‘The Boss’ Son’ won Best Feature Film and where I began directing television on ‘Miami Vice’ in 1984.”
When asked what kind of impact Mr. Roth’s seminar will have on the State of Florida, Stephanie Kon Ripstein, CEO of S.K. Ripstein said, “The State of Florida has a very large film industry, and yet events of this caliber––where the public has direct access to a successful director with a long-enduring and still––flourishing career in Hollywood––are not often available. Our company wants to promote education and grant the opportunity to people in this industry to learn from such a professional in the field. There’s not many directors in Hollywood that have had most of their TV shows turn into big hits and after almost 40 years of success are still going as strong as Bobby Roth. We are honored to do our part in supporting the film industry and educating our community.”
